SAT Design Studio is a Mumbai‑based architecture and design practice focused on creating spaces that balance innovation, sustainability, and human experience.
Founded with the belief that architecture should respond thoughtfully to both people and the environment, the studio works across residential, hospitality, and workspace projects. Each project is approached as an opportunity to create spaces that are context‑sensitive, environmentally responsible, and aesthetically refined.
The studio’s work integrates principles of sustainable architecture, biophilic design, and adaptive reuse, exploring how buildings can reduce their environmental impact while enhancing the quality of everyday life.
SAT Design Studio formerly known as Deconstruct Design Studio, is expanding its vision to develop architecture that is not only functional and expressive, but also aligned with the evolving needs of a more sustainable built environment.
Through careful material selection, climate‑responsive planning, and thoughtful spatial design, the studio aims to create architecture that feels timeless, meaningful, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

Ar. Shweta Wandhekar Tongaonkar
Founder & Principal Architect
Ar. Shweta Wandhekar Tongaonkar is an architect recognized for her ability to integrate creative architectural design with environmental sustainability.
She completed her Bachelor of Architecture from B.K.P.S College of Architecture, Savitribai Phule Pune University (2013–2018). During her college years, Shweta began taking on independent design projects, gaining early hands‑on experience working directly with clients and developing practical insights into spatial design and project execution. She continued to work independently alongside her professional engagements, building a diverse design portfolio.
Shweta began her professional career at CCBA Designs in Pune under renowned architect Christopher Benninger, where she gained exposure to large‑scale urban and institutional architecture.
Her passion for heritage and conservation architecture later led her to Abha Narain Lambah Associates (ANLA), one of India’s leading conservation architecture practices. There, she contributed to significant restoration projects including the Maharashtra State Police Headquarters and the architectural illumination of the Bombay High Court, deepening her understanding of adaptive reuse and heritage structures.
Committed to advancing sustainable architecture, Shweta pursued advanced studies in “Circular Economy in the Built Environment” at TU Delft, Netherlands. This program strengthened her focus on designing buildings as adaptable systems where materials can be reused and repurposed across their lifecycle.
In 2021, she founded Deconstruct Design Studio, which later evolved into SAT Design Studio, focusing on sustainable, biophilic, and adaptive architecture. Her design approach includes strategies such as Design for Disassembly, ensuring buildings are conceived with long‑term sustainability and material reuse in mind.

Dr. Arnav H Tongaonkar
Managing Director
Dr. Arnav Tongaonkar serves as the Managing Director of SAT Design Studio, contributing strategic leadership and interdisciplinary insight to the practice.
A Medical Oncologist by profession, Dr. Tongaonkar brings a unique perspective to the studio, combining scientific thinking with a deep interest in architecture, design, and spatial environments.
At SAT Design Studio, he oversees business strategy, project development, and client relations, helping guide the studio’s growth and long‑term vision. His cross‑disciplinary outlook encourages the studio to approach design not only from an aesthetic standpoint, but also through the lens of human well‑being and experience.
His involvement supports the studio’s mission of creating thoughtful, responsible, and meaningful built environments.
